In 2022, God brought together an unlikely group of people in Thika, Kenya. From our church, we were able to reach our local community, we worshipped together, travelled together, ate together - we became a team of joy and impact.
A short tuk-tuk ride from our church is the temporary structure of Umoja. With tin roofs, mud floors and hungry kids, the physical needs of poverty are well known. However, our friends talked of trauma, addictions and hopelessness - the struggles which they say had kept them in poverty.
They wanted lasting change in their lives, full of dignity, community and hope. So, we needed resources and lots of prayer. We began praying, and discussing, and praying some more to figure out how we could invest in every area of their lives, leaving no stone unturned or person left behind.
After more than a year of conversations with families, local chiefs, community leaders, and organisations, we were ready to begin our next journey together…
Christ-centred, just, peacemakers with servant-hearts
